"Make Your Mark" embodies the spirit of the Great White Egret. Patience almost always pays off, and nothing is a better example than the Great White Egret. Egrets are known for their hunting patience; gracefully wading through the marshy shores and wetlands as they search for fish. They normally fly slowly and gracefully but can become powerful with just a few flaps of their majestic wings.
This painting began as a series of simple, experimental marks driven only by curiosity. With each layer, a quiet energy emerged, though at times it felt too chaotic and was softened with additional layers. The piece seemed to patiently whisper, “not yet.” While working on several small egret paintings, I glanced at this unfinished canvas and suddenly knew what it needed: a bird. In that moment, Make Your Mark was born.
